Disney Wonder Merrytime Cruise Vacation

Part 1

Gingerbread house - Disney Wonder Merrytime Cruise
Life-size Gingerbread House greets us as we board the Disney Wonder Merrytime Cruise

This past December my family and I took a Disney Wonder Merrytime Cruise. Disney cruises are fabulous any time of year, but the Merrytime cruises are extra magical.

We set sail from Galveston, as that is where the Disney Wonder calls home in November and December. Being from Texas, Galveston is the closest and most convenient port for us, so choosing the Disney Wonder Merrytime cruise was a no-brainer for us.

Holiday Magic on a Disney Wonder Merrytime Cruise

Immersion in the magic of the holiday season begins as soon as you board the ship. As you enter the atrium, you are greeted by a larger than life Christmas tree and a life-size Gingerbread house, made from real gingerbread.

The first night of the cruise there is a special holiday tree lighting party. Mickey, Minnie and the gang sing and dance, all dressed up in their holiday clothes. All guest are invited to sing along. All of this leads up to Mickey lighting the huge Christmas tree in the atrium, followed by a roar of applause and more singing. Its a great way to kick off a holiday cruise. And the tree and gingerbread house stay lit for the rest of the cruise.

On a Merrytime cruise the spirit of the holiday season surrounds you, down to the smallest detail.

Cabins Made for Families

There are 3 classes of cabins on the Disney Wonder – Inside, Oceanview and Veranda. Our choice was an Oceanview cabin on Deck 2. I love Deck 2! It is so convenient to everything! You’re one deck down from the restaurants, one deck down from Guest Services and one deck down from the Atrium, where the Christmas tree and Gingerbread house are located. Plus, you can always get an elevator. I love to watch the sea from our porthole and Deck 2 is perfect for that. The portholes on Disney ships are big, and positioned where just about everyone can see out of them. They are also perfect for bringing a little Christmas spirit into your cabin with some holiday window clings.

Want to see more of an Oceanview cabin? Want to see how the pull-down bunks work in any Disney Wonder cabin? Check out the video below my teenage daughter made of our cabin the first night. And no, I don’t know why she is whispering. 🙂 Quick note, those are chocolates on the bed at the end of the video.
