Continuing our Virtual Vacation series, join us as we enjoy a visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village. Animal Kingdom Lodge is a made up of two sections – Jambo House, the original resort, and Kidani Village, built about 10 years ago. Kidani Village was built as a Disney Vacation Club resort, but anyone can stay there. Its one of our favorite places to stay.

The video below was made by my daughter. You will hear her narrating the video. She’s a teenager, so you will likely hear teen expressions, and its definitely done from a teen point of view. But I think its that teen spirit that makes it so whimsical. It starts off at Orlando Airport and even includes our trip on Magical Express from the airport to Kidani Village. Magical Express is Disney’s free bus service from Orlando Airport to any of its resort hotels. We had a great bus driver! He was animated and funny and very knowledgeable, so he made the bus ride such fun. The video includes not only Kidani Village, where we stayed, but also a look a the lobby and the Mara quick-service restaurant over at Jambo house. Come along with us!

The best thing about Animal Kingdom Lodge are the animals! If you have a Savanna View room, the animals are literally right outside your window. You can watch them all day from your balcony. On the savanna at Kidani Village, there are giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, cattle, ostriches, many types of birds, and other animals. The giraffes are my favorites. In addition, there are large common balconies throughout the resort where you can watch the animals, and some even have rocking chairs. And then there’s the “people cage”, as I call it. I took the pictures above and below from the “people cage”. Its a large, fenced in area on the savanna level where you can watch as the animals roam free. At night, they even have night-vision binoculars so you can see the animals in the dark. That was my nephew’s favorite part of staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

After the animals, the next best thing about Animal Kingdom Lodge Zebra Domes! Zebra Domes, pictured below, are the most delicious, delectable treat ever created, and they are only available at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Seriously, Zebra Domes are sooooo good that they are worth a special trip to Animal Kingdom Lodge just to get them. They are made of white chocolate, mousse, a bit of cake, a drop of alcohol, chocolate sprinkles and drizzled with chocolate. They are unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. Zebra Domes are the most incredibly fabulous dessert I’ve ever had! You can get a pack of 4 at the grab and go section of the Mara, or have as many as you want at the dinner buffet at Boma. I wish I could have some now.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village is one of my favorite places in the world, and at Walt Disney World. The animals are fascinating. But the resort theming is just as amazing. Throughout the resort are so many authentic touches of African culture. The mail slot below is an example of the African cultural influences in every day life at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I learn something new every time I stay there. There are displays of African artifacts, and Cultural Representatives to teach guests about African customs and culture. If you ever get a chance to stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, take it! In the meantime, enjoy our virtual vacation video.

This is such a clever idea for staying at home and still ‘going out’ in a way.
